I have found myself in the unfortunate situation that I have been tasked to replace two network switches. Whilst I have some networking knowledge, I am not particularly comfortable with the task and I am extremely unfamiliar with the different brands and models on offer. We are currently using a Fortinet 424E and a 1048E (Core switch) which I found very easy to use but we are no longer allowed to buy Fortinet. In terms of requirements, all I know is that it needs to be from a reputable company as it may need to be used on systems shipped to companies that are fussy on vendor, so I thought maybe go for a Cisco as they seem to be on all the lists. We will need the same quantity of ports and needs to be equivalent to running the same speeds. That’s about all I know. Based off of that information alone, what switches would you recommend I go for?
I have tried reaching out to Cisco direct, I have a call scheduled with them, but would like to have a couple of models to go into the discussion with that would indicate that I know what I’m talking about.
