Arm’s Accuracy Super Resolution, High Quality With Low Penalties

ASR Is FRS2 For Mobile
Arm have pulled a new trick out of their sleeve, a modified version of AMD’s FSR2 called Accuracy Super Resolution.  It is specifically designed to work on mobile devices with embedded GPUs; it won’t be of much interest to RTX 5090 users.  However for those that are using Snapdragon GPUs or possibly even Co-Pilot + devices this could be very attractive.  ASR will let your mobile device run movies, games and other GPU intensive tasks at a resolution lower than native, upscaled to the native resolution.
This leads to significantly lower GPU power draw which in turn means less heat is created and you won’t see the thermal throttling you would if your video was running at your screens true native resolution.   The charts over at Ars Technica show a noticeable performance difference between using FSR2 versus ASR, not to mention impressive power savings.  Your phone will throttle less, and your battery will last longer which makes ASR a double win for everyone.
